SpongeBob Movie: Sponge for a Run is an upcoming American live-action / computer-animated adventure comedy movie based on the animated TV series "SpongeBaby". Directed by former series writer Tim Hill, he co-wrote the script with Michael Kvamme, Jonathan Aibel, and Glenn Berger, This is the first SpongeBob movie fully animated with a stylized CGI, rather than a regular traditional 2D animation. The series' regular voiceovers are expected to return to their respective roles in the series and previous movies.

The film was produced by Paramount Animation, Nick Films, and United Floating Films. The animation was provided by Micross Pictures and will be released in RealD 3D by Paramount Pictures on May 22, 2020.

Spongebob and Patrick went on a rescue mission to save Gary, who was snatched by Poseidon before heading to the Lost City of Atlantic City. The movie will also reveal the origins of SpongeBob and Gary's first meeting.

In an interview in February 2015, discussing the success of SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Water at the box office, Paramount Pictures Global Distribution and Marketing President Megan Colligan said the possibility of a third film Is a "good choice".  In another interview, Paramount Vice President Rob Moore said: "It doesn't take 10 years to hope for a new movie," referring to SpongeBob (2004) and 2015 Time between sequels.  Later in 2015, news revealed that Paramount is working on a sequel to its franchise, including another SpongeBob movie. 

The film was originally scheduled for release in 2019, and then postponed until 2020. By January 2016, Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger were selected to write the film. 

In March 2017, Paramount president Marc Evans announced that the studio will work closely with Viacom on its TV brands, including the SpongeBob movie.  The same month, Yahoo! The entertainment industry said the title of the film would be "Sponge Baby Movie". 

[In April 2018, the film ’s official title was revealed as "SpongeBaby Movie: Magic Sponge", and Tim Hill, co-developer of SpongeBob, was announced to be the director and writer of the film. The film will reportedly be created later this year by Aibel, Berger and Michael Kvamme. Lead Actors Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Clancy Brown, Mr. Lawrence, Rodger Bumpass, Carlo Carolyn Lawrence, Jill Talley, Mary Jo Catlett and Lori Alan-expected to return to the role, each from the series And previous movies.  At the VIEW conference in Turin, Italy in October 2018, Paramount Animation's president Mireille Soria revealed the plot of the film. Hans Zimmer is also announced as the composer of the film, while Mikros Image in Paris and Montreal will handle the animation of the film, and the animation will be created entirely by computer animation. On June 12, 2019, it was announced that Reggie Watts and Awkwafina were added to the cast, while Cyndi Lauper and Rob Hyman, who wrote songs for SpongeBob Music, will create original songs for the film. It was also announced that Mia Michaels will be the choreographer, and Ali Dee Theodore will add original songs to the movie. The next day, Snoop Dogg was announced during a live broadcast of Jimmy Kimmel! He will be in the movie. 

On November 12, 2019, there were news that the title of the movie was changed from "It's a Wonderful Sponge" to "Sponge On The Run", as well as footage of actor Keanu Reeves. 

The SpongeBob Movie Filming

On January 22, 2019, it was confirmed that the production of the film had officially started.  Like its predecessors, this film will include live-action footage, and Larry Fong is the photographer of the film. Unlike previous movies, the movie's animation sequence will be entirely computer-animated.

The SpongeBob Movie release

"Spongebob Movie: Sponge for Escape" is scheduled to be released in the United States by Paramount Pictures on May 22, 2020.  It was originally scheduled for February 9, 2019 , but was postponed until August 2, 2019 , then July 31, 2020 , and then July 17, 2020 and finally moved to the current date.

The film's first trailer poster was revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con on July 19, 2019, and its original title was "Magic Sponge." [Citation needed] The second trailer poster was released on November 12, 2019 with a new title. The first trailer was released 2 days later.
